Red Lentil Puree

Red Lentil Puree

One cup of dry red lentils will yield about 16 ounces of puree.
Organic lentils are available year round!

Red lentils form more of a mash than green or brown lentils and therefore make an excellent first protein dish for baby! Start by boiling two cups of water, then add one cup of red lentils. Cover the pot with a lid and simmer for twenty minutes stirring occasionally. Once tender, mash until you get a nice smooth consistency. If necessary, add water to puree before serving.

Now mix it up with these yummy flavor combinations!

Add two medium apples.

Add two medium carrots.

Add about half of a small watermelon to make this sweet treat!

Half a head of steamed cauliflower, one steamed leek and three ounces of cooked red lentils will make this fabulous meal!
